YZF600R HID Headlight Conversion Kit

Postby dabears2k » Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:19 pm

This kit includes everything you need to convert your Headlight to an HID setup.

Everyone that rides knows that its tough to be seen anyways, but the Cat's whimpy stock headlight doesn't do us any favors...

Upgrade to the brightest kit on the market. Available in 35w (3x as bright as stock) and 55w (5x as bright as stock).

Included:

1 Superslim ballast (size of a cell phone, see picture below)
1 HID bulb
1 Mounting double stick tape
2 Zip Ties
1 Wiring Harness (on hi/low kit only)

Prices as low as $80 + shipping.

Available in all colors. Low beam only kit available, as well as a Hi/Low kit to retain stock headlight hi/low functionality.

Huh?

Of course it works. There are about 6 members on here (myself included) that run this kit on our bikes...

I'm also interested in what the cut off looks like? I don't want it to scatter everywhere and blind oncoming drivers. And is the low beam HID still ok on the highway at night, or do I need the Hi/Low

Not to rain on dabears2k sale but I'd like to clarify some of the questions.

This kit is not a true HID kit, you WILL blind oncoming traffic because the halogen housing is not designed to put out these many lumens. The picture shown is from a retro fit, which means there's a projector inside the halogen housing like chau003 did. Here's a picture of his setup:

Image

Without a projector there is no cut off because there is no shield in front of the glass like so:

Image

No ones telling you not to buy this kit, but if you do just be aware that you will cause blindness to oncoming traffic which is dangerous to yourself and other drivers/riders on the road.

Lastly, about the K rating, 4100k - 4300k is what OEM cars use, no OEM car is higher than 4300k. 5000k is ICE white, it's the whitest you'll find with the most usable light before you lose lumens. 6000k has a slightest blue tint to it and blue is the hardest colour for our eyes to render which causes fatigue and headaches.

Now you know and can make an educated decision on buying this kit or not. :cheers

In addition to warrior's very accurate statements, the picture above is from a bike with two S2000 projectors with ballasts that have been modified to run at a higher output(~70W).

Like I said, I never get flashed...

The high/low is preferred, but the low only will be fine as well. Remember that the regular light is 3x or 5x as bright as a stock bulb...

You are correct. It is not a projector kit. It will scatter more light than a projector kit would, but as I have said, I am running mine going on 2 years and have had nobody flash me.

I have also sold the same kit to about 15 other yzf members and all have sent me emails to tell me how happy they were/are.

Sent a few out lately. Here's the latest one.

Hi Matt,

I installed it [the hid kit] last night and it was a breeze. Thank you for your help! You have a fantastic product. The light output vs stock is like night and day.

Best regards,
-Terence
