Maybe Just Me or nothing reasonable can be done but slow..

Postby vashtsdaytona » Mon Sep 28, 2015 1:57 am

Ran out of room there.

But attached pics to posts are so slow to load for me. Suspect related to the amount of bandwidth purchased, so maybe we are stuck.

But say a 3-4MB full size pic (when clicked) loads like dial up, line by line for me.

It is nice to have pics attached for archiving purpose, but I don't like loading the full size. much faster when linked through 3rd party host

I thought it had been requested inn the past to attach your images. To avoid dead links in the future

I don't remember any discussion about attaching images directly into the forum; however, there are many threads I miss. That being said, phone cameras are now taking pictures at much higher native resolutions than what is allowed on the forum servers. I ran into this issue earlier this year, prior to the server switchover. So I simply created a photo bucket account. You might consider opening a flickr account or similar for moto related photos and keep your photo bucket account for other stuff? It'd free up space on your photo bucket account.

I think most phone cams are using much higher resolution than necessary in most cases and should be adjusted by the user.
Many people now have internet providers that use data caps and charge for overage. Many places still have very slow service.
Unless trying to show a lot of detail, 3meg for a photo is huge.
Once we're all used to the "all you can eat" buffet, it will be quite shocking to go to x$/gigabyte. Our provider has overage charges beyond 25gig/month for the basic package. Included is a free netflix account, how do you think that works out for them? ;)

If you are using a photobucket account, make sure you go into your settings and change the upload image resolution to 800x600. other wise after 100-150 photos or so, you will have exceeded your account file size limit!
