Welcome.

is it decals on OEM fairings or aftermarket fairings? I'm guessing aftermarket.

Thanks :)

Thats correct, the tank cover actually causes less than a finger width between fully turned bars which I've had to get used to but I do so love them!

Can anybody give me any suggestions for maintenance (especially over winter) for these bikes? Is there anything I should pay particular care to?

Thanks!

Pay attention to oil changes. Lube and adjust your chain. Keep air in the tires. Don't run out of gas. That's about it.
I see from your mileage under your avatar that you have about 30k miles. If you haven't done a valve clearance check, now's a good time. While you have your tank off, look at the wires leading to the rectifier, and make sure they're not burnt looking. If so, replace your rectifier (a plug and play item).

The YZF600R is a great bike, and quite reliable. You'll enjoy it for a long time if you take just basic care of it.

Never had to do much more than the basic stuff for winter storage. Oil change, full tank of gas with stabilizer, clean and lube the chain, clean the body, top up air in the tires as needed, cover and charge the battery once a month.
